Ellesmere Sports Club - Facilities

Ellesmere Sports Club aims to provide affordable sporting and recreational facilities for the local community. Below is a list of the facilities available for our members.

Members Bar

The club has fully licensed air members' bar and function suite. The Members Bar is stocked by J.W. Lees brewery.

Bowls

Ellesmere has two men only teams competing in the Eccles League and one mixed team competing in the Worlsey League. The Worsley league is the oldest Crown Green League in the North of England. The club also has social bowling with internal competitions for members.

Cricket

Worsley Cricket Club, has a proud history. Formed in 1846 when the local landowner, the 1st Earl of Ellesmere, undertook the challenge to improve the lot of his tenants by upgrading the local facilities. He built a courthouse, new schools, new churches and a new home for himself. Though a new cricket club was his priority. Squash

The club have two squash courts available for members to hire for £3.00 per 40 minute session.

The club currently have two teams competing in North West Counties League (Divisions 3 & 5)

Tennis

The club have three shale courts available for hire to members all year round.

We currently have four mens teams who compete in the Bolton Mens League on a Monday night.

We also have one mixed team that compete in the Bolton Mixed League on a Tuesday night.

For junior members we have a mixed team that play in the Bolton Junior League on Saturdays.

Coaching sessions and social tennis also take place at various times throughout the week.

Croquet

Ellesmere's Croquet Club is one of the oldest sections in the North West. We welcome new members all the time.
